We are seeking a Traffic Engineer to assist our Adelaide based team who has a desire to progress in their career and develop into a specialist in the field. This role provides an opportunity to work with other Engineers including Senior and Principal Engineers and contribute to the growth of the traffic and transport team within Tonkin. Our ideal candidates would have 3 to 5 years’ experience in traffic and transport engineering, be comfortable in providing technical expertise and maintaining client facing roles.
About the role:
You will be responsible for:
- Provide traffic engineering and transport planning advice and services as part of a wide range of projects predominantly within South Australia but with opportunities to support our business across Australia.
- Project manage a range of traffic and transport related projects primarily across Tonkin’s Local Government Program.
- Develop proposals for a range of traffic and transport related projects.
- Undertaking complex investigations into traffic related issues and developing solutions with confidence
- Preparation and delivery of traffic engineering and transport reports, studies, designs, strategies, and associated documentation
- Participate in road safety audits, safe system assessments and associated investigations
- Maintaining and building client relationships, developing ongoing contacts with clients as required
- Contribute to growing the pipeline of work in the traffic and transport space by increasing Tonkin’s industry presence and status through active industry participation
- Work in a collaborative environment with a range of disciplines throughout Tonkin’s other businesses and with allied consulting practices
- Contribute to growing the teams’ knowledge and technical understanding through knowledge transfer activities, and mentoring support that builds individual, team and organisational capability in the field
- Maintaining an awareness of the current standards, guidelines, innovations and changes in the industry
About You:
To be successful in this role, you will ideally possess:
- 3-5 years of experience within the traffic and transport field
- MIEAust, or eligibility to become a member of Engineers Australia
- Strong report writing and communication skills
- Experience working with Local Government
- Experience and knowledge in the interpretation and application of relevant legislation, codes, practices and standards.
- Knowledge of road safety practices and safe system principles
- Experience and knowledge of AutoCAD, SIDRA and Microsoft Office
