2012 marks a change in approach for the Janet Brash award. The award moves from a research grant to two innovation awards.
The two awards are as follows:
Traffic Engineering/Management & Transport Planning
Both awards include a $4,000 prize.
Traffic Engineering/Management Award This award is targeted at the operational environment. Examples include, but are not limited to, road safety, speed management, traffic flow efficiency, traffic management treatments, traffic signals, pedestrian facilities, cycling facilities, public transport facilities and freight facilities. A number of different treatments can be included as part of one project.
Transport Planning Award This award is targeted at the strategic environment. Examples include, but are not limited to, network planning, multi modal planning, cycling planning, pedestrian planning, public transport planning, parking planning and freight planning.
