It is with a heavy heart that I inform you that the 2021 National Conference, due to be held in Brisbane at the end of July, has been cancelled.
We are living in unprecedented times and up until last month, the planning for the conference was growing and the country starting to freely open up once again. But with this came risks, and risks with severe consequences. We have all seen how quickly this Delta Covid-19 variant has spread around the country resulting in widespread lockdowns, border closures and uncertainty. This uncertainty has made for very difficult National Board decisions. Whilst the cancellation of the 2021 National Conference was not a decision the Board and I wanted to make, it is definitely the right one for the industry and AITPM.
Through the many conversations I have had, I know that many of you were looking forward to once again meeting face to face with peers and will be very disappointed by this decision. Please support your local AITPM team and partners, fellow AITPM members and especially the QLD delivery team (who have now planned for 3 conferences but only delivered one online due to Covid-19!) who are all hurting with this.
As a diverse industry we will grow from these times and become a stronger supported industry.
Further information on refunds, transfers and next steps will be announced soon, but it was important that I got this message to you as soon as I could.
I would like to thank the AITPM team led by CEO Kirsty, National Board, and especially the WHOLE QLD Conference team for their dedication, professionalism and voluntary time given to support us over the past two years.
