This online event provides three presentations on pedestrian planning as well as the collection of data to understand human travel behaviour. Speakers are from GHD and Main Roads Western Australia.
Presentations include:
1. Glasgow Queen Street Station Redevelopment
Simon Ancliffe, Founder & Executive Director of Movement Strategies will present a case study on the redevelopment of Glasgow Queen Street Station and the role of people flow consultancy and modelling during the design and construction process resulting in transformation of the station and its relationship to the city.
2. Mobile Network Data
Mobile Network Data (MND) is a relatively new and very rich dataset from which we can capture the volume and pattern of people movement across space and time, as well as demographic characteristics. The anonymised and aggregated outputs provide a holistic view of a transportation network, across modes, journey purposes and scale of geographical area. The presentation summarises the work done recently by Movement Strategies to deliver a freight resilience study for the UK’s Department of Transport (DfT). We will describe how our team of data scientists extracted insights from MND to answer key questions about the resilience of the freight network in light of Brexit.
3. Main Roads Western Australia will also provide an update on their Guideline for Pedestrian Crossing Facilities at Traffic Signals.
