Victoria is currently on its way to reshaping its Metropolitan Rail Network. The largest rail project currently under construction is the Metro Tunnel Project, aiming for completion by 2025. The project commenced back in 2018 and involves twin 9km rail tunnels from west of the city to the south east and construction of 5 new underground stations.
The High Capacity Metro Train (HCMT) will be the primary train to operate through the Metro Tunnel and will also be fitted with High Capacity Signalling allowing the trains to run closer together. Key benefits of High Capacity Metro Trains include increased capacity and seating, real time information, improved passenger safety and ultimately a more frequent service.
Hear from guest speakers, Linda Cantan, Project Director Tunnels and Stations (RPV) and Ian Sturdy, Project Director HCMT (DoT), who will present on the journey of the projects so far.
