SEQ City Deals

Scott will be outlining how CoMSEQ have been working with Local, State and Federal Governments and their Departments to facilitate the recently announced City Deal for SEQ. Scott will particularly focus on the transport infrastructure projects of the City Deal.

Scott Smith was appointed Chief Executive Officer of the Council of Mayors (SEQ) in December 2017, but has been leading the organisation’s investigations into an SEQ City Deal and its application to South East Queensland since 2014. Scott is an accomplished senior executive with 25 years of leadership in business improvement and project management, and more than 15 years’ experience in senior roles in the local government sector. Scott first joined the Council of Mayors (SEQ) in 2005, providing program management and strategic direction in the areas of process reform, red tape reduction and the streamlining of local government services. The Council of Mayors (SEQ) has been at the forefront of the introduction of the City Deals model, recognising its ability to deliver widespread benefits for South East Queensland.

People Mass Movement Study (PMMS)

Jason will discuss the findings from the People Mass Movement Study (PMMS) which provided both an input into the SEQ Olympics Bid Feasibility Study and the SEQ Transport Infrastructure Strategy. This work was the basis for the transport infrastructure strategy outlined in the Courier Mails “SEQ Future” series in October last year.

Jason is SMEC’s Manager for Transport Planning, Logistics and Analytics for Qld/NT.  He has 24 years Award winning national and international experience specialising in project planning, feasibility studies, business management, project management and design for transport infrastructure projects and development assessments and approvals. Jason is currently delivering the Council of Mayors SEQ People Mass Movement Study (PMMS) Stage 2 after completing Stage 1.  He is also a key team member delivering the North Coast Connect Faster Rail Business Case Project (Brisbane to the Sunshine Coast) for the Department of Infrastructure, Regional Development and Cities (DIRDC).
