The Australian Institute of Traffic Planning & Management is an association of people practicing in the traffic and transport fields. The 2018 half day seminar will have a specific focus on local government and will provide an excellent opportunity for AITPM members, traffic engineers, transport and land use planners and elected representatives to:
- Increase their knowledge
- Exchange ideas and research
- Develop professional networks
- Enhance their skills in traffic engineering and transport planning and
- Keep up to date with the latest techniques and guidelines.
This seminar includes a focus on traffic and transport project innovations, opportunitiesand challenges for Local Government. Attendance is particularly recommended for practitioners newer to the industry, younger professionals and those interested in learning from the experience of others in the Local Government sector.
The program includes presentations on non-standard traffic control devices, policies and strategies for consultation, narrow streets and the Safe System approach, improving pedestrian accessibility and safety and ‘Way 2 Go’ program projects. All presentations will include learnings from project case studies. To support the AITPM “back to basics” learning emphasis there will be a series of short presentations from Young Professionals, giving them an opportunity to present in a professional environment.
There will also be opportunities for questions and panel discussion.
