The AITPM VIC YPN and the Institute of Transportation Engineer's YITE are collaborating to host a Young Professionals Careers in Transport Webinar for students and early career professionals. During the webinar, you will hear from three speakers that will share their experiences within the transport industry including transport planning, transport modelling and traffic engineering.

Emily is currently Principal Infrastructure Advisor in the Networks and Planning team at Infrastructure Victoria where she is working on Infrastructure Victoria’s 30-year strategy update, due to be released later this year. Emily is a transport professional who has spent most of her career working in the network planning and strategy space. Trained as a Civil Engineer, she has held various engineering, strategy and planning roles at VicRoads, Transport for London and Department of Transport.
Ben has previously spent two and a half years as a site engineer in New Zealand working across a large-scale transport infrastructure projects (a port upgrade, motorway interchange tender, ferry terminal upgrade, and the City Rail Link [Auckland’s City Loop]). Since moving to Melbourne in 2016, Ben has been working as a Traffic and Transport Engineer at Ratio Consultants. The day-to-day schedule focuses on the initial stages of projects and assisting developers with the traffic side of design and permit applications. So in terms of the different disciplines, Ben has been involved in the construction, consultancy and design side of projects. As an individual Ben’s key area of focus is on multi-modal transport systems and how towns and cities can move from car-dependency towards a balanced integrated transport system.
Sal Ahmad is a senior traffic engineer in the Integrated Transport & Mobility team at Aurecon. She currently specialises in leading traffic engineering components of major infrastructure projects. Her transport engineering background has been focused on transport modelling, particularly microsimulation modelling and traffic engineering. She has worked a range of different scaled transport projects, with a range of different drivers and traffic needs whilst supporting and advising her clients to achieve a desired outcome.
