About this event
Join us for an engaging and informative event focused on the evolving landscape of transport and land use planning in Tasmania. Featuring three expert speakers from within state government, this session will offer valuable insights into the policies, strategies, and practical initiatives shaping Tasmania’s planning future.
The event will begin with an overview of Tasmania’s planning system, highlighting key legislative and policy instruments including the Land Use Planning and Approvals Act, the Regional Land Use Strategies, and the Tasmanian Planning Scheme.
We’ll then explore the role and benefits of strategic land use planning - what it is, why it matters, and how it integrates a range of disciplines, including transport planning. This segment will include a focus on planning for population growth within the context of the Regional Land Use Strategies and broader transport planning objectives.
The final presentation will bring these ideas together through a practical case study: the upcoming corridor plan for a key Hobart transport route. Attendees will learn how integrated planning can be supported through policy tools such as the Medium Density Design Guidelines and the Density Incentive Grant Scheme, helping to encourage urban densification and greater uptake of public and active transport options.
Don’t miss this opportunity to deepen your understanding and contribute to the conversation on shaping sustainable growth in Tasmania.
Registrations close at 10am on Tuesday 20 May 2025.
