The Australian Institute of Traffic Planning and Management Ltd (AITPM) is the national association for traffic and transport professionals.
Our members come from many professions.
We advocate to government and industry, provide career support, hold events, encourage new people to join the industry, and promote the importance of transport to the broader community.
We want a sustainable, efficient, safe, and accessible transport system.
We adapt to emerging trends in our industry.
We focus on pressing issues such as inclusivity, economic growth, and reducing carbon emissions.
We are building a connected community of members, facilitating collaboration and engagement across the industry, and sharing and developing knowledge and experience. We are also working to partner with universities to encourage students into the sector.
We not only recognise industry professionals throughout Australia’s history but also recognise that we operate across a wide range of traditional Aboriginal lands in each state and territory. We acknowledge our indigenous members, and pay our respects to elders past and present in all of the things we do. In fact, researchers have modelled ancient Aboriginal routes, and hypothesise that their ‘super-highways’ throughout Australia bear striking similarities to Australia's current highways and stock routes.
