An Overview of the NSW Road Safety Action Plan 2026 | 23 June 2022
You are invited to this AITPM NSW/ACT Branch webinar designed to provide practitioners with an overview of the NSW Road Safety Action Plan 2026. The overview of the strategy will be delivered by Ralston Fernandes, Senior Manager Road Safety Strategy, Safety Environment & Regulation, NSW Centre for Road Safety.
The 2026 Road Safety Action Plan seeks to build on the success of the Road Safety Plan 2021 with new road trauma reduction targets for 2030, setting NSW on a path towards zero road trauma by 2050. The 2026 Plan includes new targets to halve road deaths and reduce serious injuries by 30% by 2030. It is based on the proven Safe Systems approach to road safety, so that initiatives to deliver safer roads, speeds, people and vehicles work together to keep us protected.
The plan will deliver on five priority areas:
- Creating safer country roads and urban places
- Enhancing road safety in local communities
- Increasing the safety of light vehicles, heavy vehicles and protective equipment
- Making safer choices on our roads
- Ensuring the safety of vulnerable and other at-risk road users
