People, places and parking: The key to unlocking future communities | Tuesday 27 May 2025
About this event
We recently hosted an insightful webinar featuring Steven Burgess (GHD) and Scott Ebbett (MRCagney), who they unpacked the complex relationships between people, places, and parking in towns and cities across Australia and New Zealand.
Through engaging case studies and real-world examples, Steven and Scott explored how smarter parking and kerbside management can play a pivotal role in transforming urban centres. Their discussion offered valuable perspectives for professionals, technical practitioners, and government representatives alike.
Key takeaways from the session included:
- Why parking generates such strong emotions, and how to manage community expectations
- The link between parking, place-making, movement, and spending behaviour
- Practical approaches to managing parking demand, supply, and pricing
- Strategies for off-street vs. on-street parking management
Whether you're tackling parking pressures, responding to stakeholder concerns, or seeking to revitalise your town centre, this session provided practical tools and a compelling case for rethinking parking as a catalyst for more vibrant, accessible, and economically resilient places.
Let’s keep challenging the “it wouldn’t work here” mindset—because smart parking management can work anywhere.
